• Fun with Flashmobs

A flashmob is "a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place,  perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse."

A flashmob group has just started up in Brisbane. There have already been two events:

1) A freeze day in the middle of the Queen Street Mall

2) A mass pillowfight (meant to be outside Lang Park football stadium last night, but the mob was forced to retreat by the police).

There is no direct political content to the flashmob, but it's interesting to be part of a group that deliberately tries to assemble a largish group of people for co-ordinated, unexpected action. I'm also learning a lot about making and distributing videos online with my fairly low-end equipment.

And people are actually having fun, too.
