This item by Charles Krauthammer at wapo is puzzling. I cannot make out whether he's lost it or is just part of the pressure of threatening Shia to encourage accommodation with Sunnis.
Another reason I'm posting it though is for the example of trackbacks under the heading "Who's Blogging". The link for Full list of Blogs displays a list maintained automatically by Technorati of every blog (that implements this method of notification) which has commented on that article.
If we were trying to promote this site by actually participating in the blogosphere, one way to do it is to write responses to articles like that one INCLUDING references to the comments on them from other blogs that have done so.
The notification mechanism would result in a link to us automatically appearing in that list of "Who's Blogging" (and to similar lists at some of those other sites).
More importantly, we would go and post comments on those other blogs that had commented on the article, drawing attention to our comment and linking to it. This would occasionally result in some blog that has a much larger audience than we do writing a post responding to ours, or if they could find their way around the site in the very few seconds a busy power blogger might devote to checking us out, to other items of interest they noticed here.
The very mild sarcasm that may peek through in my use of the word "If" above should not mislead anyone into believing that I am not totally angry and bitter about the situation that has dragged on here for literally years now and that I do not regard it as, to use some terms that were flung at me last night as "self-indulgent" and "wrecking" to huddle in a corner talking to yourselves in direct contradiction of any kind of politics I ever have or ever will be interested in participating in.
